The Sanivite drain pump is specially designed for commercial and residential use, effectively pumping gray water from various fixtures. It has the ability to discharge waste up to 16 feet vertically and/or 150 feet horizontally. This compact model is perfect for kitchen cabinets and can handle even the toughest applications, including hot water and grease.
The Sanivite model is specifically engineered for heavy-duty drain pump applications. Its unique design and exceptional pumping capabilities make it the preferred choice. Inside the Sanivite, there is a pressure chamber that controls the unit's start and stop functions, as well as a motor that drives the pump. When water enters the Sanivite, it triggers a micro switch in the pressure chamber, activating the motor. The motor is sealed for life in an oil-filled enclosure, and the impeller is driven by a spindle/shaft, resulting in minimal moving parts. The water is pumped into the sanitary sewer, with the unit capable of pumping effluent upward to 16 feet and/or 150 feet horizontally through gravity fall. Once the water is discharged and the water level in the container decreases, the micro switch deactivates the unit until water enters again. The Sanivite's operating cycle can be as short as 2 to 10 seconds, depending on the discharge pipe configuration, resulting in minimal power consumption.
In addition to sinks, the Sanivite can also handle waste water from showers, bathtubs, urinals, and whirlpools. When installing a bathtub or shower, a base must be constructed, using a minimum of a 2" x 6" or recommended 2" x 8" on edge, to allow for the installation of a P-trap and the necessary 1/4" per foot gravity flow towards the pump unit. The Sanivite can also accommodate gray water from a washing machine through an indirect connection, such as a laundry sink. The waste water from other fixtures is discharged into the Sanivite through two 2-inch inlets on either side of the housing, and an additional 1 1/2" inlet on the top of the unit. The discharge elbow on top of the Sanivite can be adjusted to the left, right, or back, depending on the installation requirements. It also features a non-return valve on the discharge elbow to prevent backflow. The unit comes with a vent connection on the lid, as per plumbing codes. It is important to note that a two-way air vent system is required, and the use of mechanical vents or air admittance valves is not permitted. Connecting the drain pump to a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) circuit is highly recommended. The Sanivite's compact size allows it to fit snugly inside a kitchen cabinet, vanity, or the overhang of a whirlpool. It is certified to meet American and Canadian electrical standards (UL 778 and CSA C22.2).
